From June 28 to 30, the 5th Annual Conference of the China & Africa (South Africa) Technical and Vocational Education Cooperation Alliance and International Symposium on China & Africa High-Quality Development of Vocational Education were held in Zhengzhou, Henan. Jia Peng, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of the Ministry of Education, P.R. China, Du Kewei, Director of the China Center for International People-to-People Exchanges, Ministry of Education, P.R. China, Zungu (尊古), Deputy Director-General of the Department of Higher Education and Training of South Africa, Li Xudong, Education Counselor of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of South Africa, and Diao Yuhua, Deputy Director-General of the Education Department Henan Province, attended the conference and delivered speeches. YRCTI is the standing vice-chairmaninstitution of the Chinese Council of the China & Africa (South Africa) Technical and Vocational Education Cooperation Alliance, and YRCTI’s President Hu Hao and Vice President Jian Haoran also attended the conference.

During the conference, Hu Hao presented a case titled “Leverage Professional Advantages to Deepen Industry-Education Integration and Explore Pathways for China-Africa Vocational Education Development.” He introduced YRCTI’s experience and achievements in conducting opening-up education and working with African countries to carry out vocational education cooperation and establish overseas Dayu Schools from four respects: Implement multiple measures to comprehensively elevate the international education level; establish a multiple cooperative model to establish Dayu Schools; make contributions and share China’s vocational education wisdom; propose prospect to build an international vocational education brand in water conservancy. He explained that YRCTI has been leveraging the construction ofthe“Double High-level Plan”, following the direction of educational opening up and focusing on innovating international exchange and cooperation mechanisms to promote production with education, enhance the integration of industry and education, build international platforms for vocational education cooperation, supporting Chinese water conservancy enterprises to actively participate in the “Belt and Road” construction and promoting the establishment of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Hu Hao also emphasized that YRCTI will further carry forward its strengths in water conservancy talent cultivation to gradually optimize the Dayu School model and build it into an internationally renowned vocational education brand in water conservancy, so as to contribute YRCTI’s wisdom of vocational education in water conservancy to the construction of the “Belt and Road” Initiative.

Since its establishment, the China & Africa (South Africa) Technical and Vocational Education Cooperation Alliance has been dedicated to broadening the international cooperation perspectives of its members, enhancing awareness and capabilities for international people-to-people exchanges, building China-Africa (South Africa) vocational education cooperation platforms, and creating brand projects such as South African students studying in China. Currently, the Alliance includes over 200 member institutions from both China and South Africa. The Alliance has been actively mobilizing various institutions and resources to advance the vocational education cooperation between China and South Africa, as well as between China and Africa more broadly, making significant contributions to promoting China-Africa people-to-people exchanges and mutual understanding, serving the “Belt and Road” construction, and fostering the establishment of a China-Africa community with a shared future.
