On the morning of August 24, a delegation of 9 individuals, including Cloud Bai-Yun (白云), Chief Advisor of the National Recognition Information Centre for the United Kingdom (UK NARIC) and Vice Chairman of the Board of the UNESCO Global Convention on the Accreditation of Higher Education, Jonathan Margetts, Vocational Education Review Manager of UK NARIC, and Li Huajie, Chief Representative of UK NARIC in China, visited YRCTI. YRCTI’s Party Secretary Zhou Baoping,Vice President Jian Haoran, and heads of relevant departments warmly received the delegation.

At the discussion meeting, Zhou Baoping delivered a welcome speech, and introduced YRCTI’s educational situation and international achievements, particularly elaborating on the specific practices and successes of YRCTI in developing vocational education standards and applying for international evaluation and accreditation. She expressed that in the future, YRCTI will thoroughly implement the strategy of opening up in educationandactively promote mutual recognition of academic degrees, compatibility of standards, and sharing of experiences, to facilitate the localized upgrading of international vocational education service experiences and professional construction standards systems, form an integrated solution for high-quality talent cultivation, and contribute “YRCTI’s Wisdom and Solutions” to the development of the global vocational education.

Cloud Bai-Yun thanked for YRCTI’s warm reception, introduced the development history and achievements of the UK NARIC, and gave full recognition to YRCTI’s distinctive educational characteristics, philosophy, and level, as well as the paths and models of carrying out overseas educationthroughuniversity-enterprise cooperation. She indicated that the UK NARIC wishes to further strengthen cooperation with Chinese vocational universities to develop high-level vocational education standards, build a platform for international educational exchanges and cooperation, and assist Chinese vocational universities in going global.

The UK experts have highly praised the achievements of YRCTI’s application for international evaluation and accreditation for its specialties, stating that both the specialties, the Installation and Management of Hydropower Station Equipment and the Water Conservancy and Hydropower Engineering, have reached level 5 of the UK Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) and the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) and served as exemplary models in both China and foreign countries. After this, the delegation engaged in in-depth discussions with YRCTI’s faculty staff regarding the procedures and specific contents of specialties applying for international evaluation and accreditation.

During the visit, the delegation also visited the Training Classrooms of the School of Environmental Engineering and the School of Surveying and Mapping Engineering located in No. 8 Training Base, the “Footprint” cultural landscape, the Smart Campus Service Hall, and the Kunpeng Mountain Water Conservancy Training Base.
