YRCTI’s Thailand Dayu School Inaugurates

On the morning of November 13, YRCTI’s Thailand Dayu School was inaugurated at Rayong Technical College Thailand. Songchai (宋猜), Chairman of the Vocational Education Committee, Eastern Region, Thailand, YRCTI’s President Hu Hao, Chih Tih P’eng (吉狄蓬), President of Rayong Technical College Thailand, Song Maoxing, Representative of the Yellow River Co., Ltd. Thailand Office, Representative Wang Congde and Deputy Representative Cao Shuanglong of the Sinohydro Foundation Engineering Co., Ltd. Thailand Office, and Qian Qingyu, Deputy General Manager of China Construction Industrial & Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd., attended the inauguration ceremony. Representatives of teachers from YRCTI and the Rayong Technical College Thailand and the Thai students of the Dayu School also attended the ceremony.

Hu Hao delivered a speech, expressing gratitude to the Vocational Education Committee, Eastern Region, Thailand, and the Chinese enterprises for their strong supportforthe cooperation between the two universities. He noted that since the signing of a cooperation agreement in August 2022, YRCTI and the Rayong Technical College Thailand have conducted fruitful cooperation in the “Chinese + Vocational Skills” program and the studying programs in China. He also expressed that the establishment of the Thailand Dayu School was an important action in service of the Belt and Road Initiative, aiming to cultivate urgently needed local technical and skilled engineering talents for Thailand and make new contributions to the development of the vocational education cooperation between China and Thailand. He hopes that both universities will, through the Thailand Dayu School, conduct more exchanges in teacher training, student exchanges, and international Chinese education, carry out more practical cooperation in the cultivation of specialized international talents and the collaboration of scientific research in fields such as construction, water resources, and new energy, so as to deepen the integration of industry and education, elevate the educational level of the Thailand Dayu School and build it into an international model of vocational education.

Chih Tih P’eng warmly welcomed President Hu Hao and the delegation. He stated that the establishment of the Thailand Dayu School is a rich outcome of the longstanding friendly cooperation between the two universities and marks the beginning of deeper collaboration and,with YRCTI’s experienced faculty team and advanced educational philosophy and based on the close cooperation with Chinese enterprises, the Thailand Dayu School will further elevate the educational level of Rayong Technical College Thailand, provide Thai youth with a new pathway to the international stage, and contribute to Thailand’s social and economic development.

Song Maoxing indicated that Chinese enterprises are rapidly developing in Thailand,which has stimulated an urgent need for a large number of international technical and skilled talents, and Chinese enterprises will work together with YRCTI and Rayong Technical College Thailand to provide more internship and job opportunities for students, continuously improve the skill levels of Thailand’s young students, strengthen the overseas construction capabilities of Chinese enterprises, and better help enterprises achieve the localization goals.

After this, the attending leaders jointly unveiled the nameplate for the Thailand Dayu School and had productive discussions on the future development of the Thailand Dayu School and the in-depth cooperation between universities and enterprises. Both universities agreed to improve the offered courses for the Thailand Dayu School, expand the cooperation specialties, select outstanding Thai students to study in China, and conduct training for employees of China-invested enterprises, aiming to make it a model of vocational education cooperation between China and Thailand.

During the visit, accompanied byPresident Chih Tih P’eng, President Hu Hao and the delegation also visited the classrooms and practical training facilities at Rayong Technical College Thailand. In addition, they also visited Rayong Guanghua School and held in-depth discussions with Mr. Zhang Shaoyi, the Chairman of the Board, regarding the establishment of a base for Thailand’s students to study in China and Chinese language education. Hu Hao and the delegation also held a discussion with YRCTI’s prominent alumni of China-invested enterprises, including Song Maoxing, Wang Congde, Cao Shuanglong, and Qian Qingyu, expressed warm regards to them who have been working hard on overseas projects, and hoped them to visit their alma mater often and continue supporting its development. The alumni expressed their gratitude to YRCTI and provided valuable suggestions for its development, focusing on technical talent cultivation, employee training for enterprises, and international technical services.

In recent years, YRCTI has actively followed the national “Belt and Road” initiative and fully leveraged its vocational education advantages to promote production with education and enhance the relationship with enterprises, so as to build the Dayu School into an international Chinese brand in water conservancy vocational education that features distinctive water conservancy advantages, deep integration of industry and education, and high recognition among the “Belt and Road” countries. The Thailand Dayu School is YRCTI’s third overseas Dayu School, following the Dayu Schools in Zambia and South Africa. It is also YRCTI’s first collaboration with an educational institution in an ASEAN country, marking a significant step in enhancing YRCTI’s cultivation level of international talents and its global influence. The Thailand Dayu School will focus on serving the overseas development of China-invested water conservancy enterprises to expand its influence to Southeast Asia based in Thailand, aiming to share China’s high-quality standards of vocational education in water conservancy and cultivate the much-needed technical and skilled construction talents for both Thai local enterprises and overseas Chinese enterprises.
