Prosper Mgaya, General-Director of the Vocational Education Training Agency of Tanzania, and Abdallah Ngodu, Director of Vocational Education Training, along with other relevant leaders, warmly received Zhou Baoping and her delegation.

Both universities signed a Letter of Intent on Cooperation.

Zhou Baoping introduced YRCTI’s development history and educational achievements and reviewed the past cooperation and exchanges in vocational education between YRCTI and Tanzania’s institutes. She stated that China and Tanzania share a deep-rooted friendship and, over a long history, the two countries have been supporting each other and working together for mutual development. After the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), President Xi Jinping chose Tanzania as his first stop during his Africa visit. In addition, President Hassan was the first head of state from Africa to visit China after the 20th National Congress of the CPC. In 2023, during the BRICS summit in Johannesburg, President Xi Jinping met again with President Hassan, and they expressed the intention to further expand the people-to-people and cultural exchanges, strengthen think tank interactions between China and Tanzania, and continuously inject new momentum into the enduring friendship between China and Africa. Under this background, YRCTI would strengthen cooperation with Tanzania’s institutes in the field of vocational education and, focusing on specialized technical areas such as water conservancy and mechanics, carry out practical cooperation in areas such as student cultivation, “Chinese + Vocational Skills,” joint research, and the co-construction of the Dayu School, with the purpose of providing a broader stage for the development of youth in both countries and contributing to the improvement of quality and effectiveness for China-Africa educational cooperation.

Prosper Mgaya sincerely welcomed Zhou Baoping and the delegation, stating that as one of the fastest-growing economies in Africa, Tanzania has always placed great importance on the development of education, particularly vocational and technical education, which is closely linked to national development. The cooperation between China and Tanzania in the field of vocational education aligns well with both countries’ development strategies, which offers vast prospects for collaboration for both countries. He further stated that the Vocational Education Training Agency of Tanzania has a broad space for cooperation with YRCTI in areas such as teaching and research, and expressed a strong desire to jointly establish the Tanzania Dayu School with YRCTI, by introducing advanced vocational skills and vocational education standards from China, to cultivate more high-quality technical and skilled talents urgently needed for Tanzania’s socio-economic development and effectively enhance Tanzania’s abilities of independent innovation and independent development.

After this, both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on matters such as the “Chinese + Vocational Skills” program and the co-establishment of the Dayu School, by which they reached a consensus on cooperation intentions and signed a Letter of Intent on Cooperation.
