On December 28, Deputy Secretary of YRCTI’s Party Committee and YRCTI’s President Hu Hao was invited to deliver a speech at the 2023 Annual Work Exchange and Promotion Meeting of the Institute for International People-to-People Exchange and renewed the agreement to co-build the Institute for International People-to-People Exchange in the Water Conservancy Industry with China Center for International People-to-People Exchange, Ministry of Education. YRCTI’s President Hu Hao renewed the agreement with Deputy Director of China Center for International People-to-People Exchange Cao Diefeng.

Director of China Center for International People-to-People Exchange, Ministry of Education, Yu Changxue, summarized the work of the institutes in 2023 and elaborated on the significant importance of institute construction based on General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important comments on people-to-people exchanges and building a strong education nation. He emphasized that the next step for the institutes is to optimize and improve institutional mechanisms, strengthen research on international people-to-people exchanges, host more high-level cultural exchange activities, enhance the ability to serve economic and social development, and fully implement new development concepts, aiming to promote the high-quality and sustainable development of industry-specific institutes.

At the meeting, Hu Hao, the university leader of a co-built institute, delivered a speech. He introduced the basic situation and achievements of the Institute for International People-to-People Exchange in the Water Conservancy Industry. He pointed out that, with the people-to-people exchange philosophy of “people-oriented, open and inclusive, win-win cooperation, and mutual learning”, the institute has been actively exploring high-quality development paths for international people-to-people exchanges and forming a work approach of “strengthening teams, aggregating resources, and creating brands”, deeply advanced international academic research in water conservancy vocational education and achieved good results in constructing the Dayu School, implementing the “Chinese + Vocational Skills” project, and conducting the international people-to-people exchange activities “Exploring Central Plains, Experiencing the Yellow River”, which have made great contributions to the high-quality development of international people-to-people exchanges. He further stated that, down the road, the institute will continue to focus on three sectors: Firstly, precisely meet the Chinese enterprises’ needs to “go global”, enhance service levels, and support the Belt and Road construction; secondly, improve the think tank’s research capabilities, release specific research reports, and advance the “industry + country” studies; thirdly, play a leading and exemplary role, and build a joint educational community for Dayu School.

After that, he renewed the agreement to co-build the Institute for International People-to-People Exchange in the Water Conservancy Industry with Deputy Director of China Center for International People-to-People Exchange Cao Diefeng.

In August 2020, YRCTI co-founded the Institute for International People-to-People Exchange in the Water Conservancy Industry with China Center for International People-to-People Exchange, Ministry of Education to enhance the relevance and effectiveness of vocational colleges in serving society from the perspective of people-to-people exchanges and promote the integrated development of talent cultivation, scientific research, social services, cultural heritage innovation, and international cooperation and exchange in the water conservancy industry, aiming to make contributions to supporting the participation of industry enterprises in the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative and a community with a shared future for mankind.
