On November 17, the 2023 (Russia) BRICS + Open Eurasian High-Tech Competition concluded in Yekaterinburg, Russia. YRCTI participated in two events, Additive Manufacturing and Mechanical Design CAD, and won two silver medals with excellent results, ranking first in China and second overall.

YRCTI placed great importance on this competition and formed a team of 6 members, including YRCTI’s Vice President Jian Haoran, Vice Dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering Shen Yanhe, teacher of the School of Mechanical Engineering Xu Xiangmin, Kong Luqing from the Liaison and Cooperation Department, and students Wang Yuhang and Yang Longwei from the School of Mechanical Engineering, to participate in the Competition at Russia as part of the Chinese delegation.

During the competition, they worked closely together, overcoming challenges such as high competition intensity and tight time constraints, and competed alongside teams from the Eurasian Economic Union, BRICS countries, and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). After three days of intense competition, they showcased their impressive work and solid skills on the international stage, demonstrating Chinese excellence. Students Wang Yuhang and Yang Longwei won silver medals in the Additive Manufacturing and Mechanical Design CAD events respectively, and represented YRCTI on the podium of a world-class skills competition.

Focusing on the exploration of high-tech professional standards and emerging key interdisciplinary technologies, the 2023 (Russia) BRICS + Open Eurasian High-Tech Competition was jointly held by the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, the Government of Sverdlovsk Oblast, and the Russian Agency for Strategic Initiatives, as well as major holding companies and state-owned enterprises. The competition included 35 events, such as Additive Manufacturing, Mechanical Design CAD, and CNC Turning, and attracted over 2,000 participants and experts from 11 countries, including China, Russia, Belarus, India, Iran, and Ghana.

In recent years, based on the concept of “promoting education, learning, reform, and construction through competitions”, YRCTI has actively facilitated educational teaching and reform and enhanced students’ abilities in innovation, coordination, organization, and cooperation. In this competition, the School of Mechanical Engineering achieved excellent results on the international stage, which further enhanced YRCTI’s international vocational influence and made significant contributions to YRCTI’s construction of the “Double High-level Plan”.
