On August 9, teachers Wang Feng and Wang Mengmeng from YRCTI’s School of Water Conservancy Engineering successfully completed the China-Ethiopia “Chinese + Vocational Skills” water conservancy engineering training program. This training program lasted for two months and saw the attendance of 17 core instructors from 14 vocational colleges, including the Federal Vocational and Technical Training College of Ethiopia.

During the training period, Wang Feng and Wang Mengmeng designed the curriculum based on local needs and conducted training in sectors such as the design and construction of small hydropower stations, leak detection and repair, modern water harvesting techniques, as well as pumps and turbines. They not only imparted theoretical knowledge and practical skills but also engaged in in-depth exchanges with local teachers and students and shared China’s technological achievements and successful experiences in the field of water conservancy and hydropower, by which they completed the assigned tasks successfully and their teaching outcomes were highly praised by the Ministry of Labor and Skills of Ethiopia.

China-Ethiopia “Chinese + Vocational Skills” program is a key China-Ethiopia cooperation project on vocational education initiated by the Ministry of Labor and Skills of Ethiopia, with its Secretariat established at YRCTI. This training was jointly implemented by YRCTI and other three higher vocational colleges of Henan Province, aiming to leverage YRCTI’s exemplary and leading role to cultivate high-quality technical talents proficient in Chinese for Ethiopia, promote higher-quality development in China-Ethiopia vocational education cooperation, and establish a “Henan Model” of China-Africa vocational education cooperation.
